The Health Product Declaration (HPD) is an initiative of the Health Product Declaration® Collaborative, a customer-led member organization ensuring companies are transparent about the ingredients in their products.
HPDs are written in accordance with the Health Product Declaration Open Standard, which provides for the “full disclosure of product contents and potential associated human and environmental health hazards.” Paints in compliance that publish a complete HPD with full disclosure of known hazards in accordance with the Health Product Declaration Open Standard earn LEED v4 Transparency/Materials Ingredient Reporting credit.
LEED® v4 (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a green building certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
